Compare Two Minecraft Skins Side by Side

Enter two Minecraft usernames to load their skins next to each other, front and back. A quick way to settle who has the better look, choose between two designs, or preview a friend's skin before you try the style yourself. Works with any Java Edition username that has a public profile.

How to compare Minecraft skins

  1. Type the first player's Java Edition username in the Player 1 box.
  2. Type the second username in the Player 2 box.
  3. Select Compare Skins to load both skins from the public Mojang profile service.
  4. Review the front and back of each skin, then open either player for the full viewer, download and details.

How the comparison is drawn

Both names are looked up at the same moment, through the same Mojang profile service as the skin viewer. If only one of them exists, the page tells you which name it could not find instead of showing half a comparison.

Each skin is laid out flat, front and back, at the same scale: a whole number of screen pixels for every skin pixel and no smoothing, so no pixel gets blurred. The base layer is drawn first and the hat, jacket, sleeve and trouser layers go on top. For the model in 3D and the download, open a player with View full details.

Frequently asked questions

Which usernames work?

Any current Minecraft Java Edition username. The lookup runs through the public Mojang profile service, which only holds Java accounts, so a Bedrock gamertag does not resolve here. If a player changed their name, use the new one: the profile service only knows the name an account uses now.

Why does a skin show the default Steve or Alex?

That account has no custom skin texture on its profile, so the page shows a default skin in its place. It is not because the profile is hidden: Minecraft profiles are public.

Can I download the skins?

Yes. Open either player with View full details. The skin viewer opens with that name filled in, and its download button gives you the PNG as it is stored on the profile.

Can I send someone a comparison?

Yes. Put both names in the address as /compare?player1=FirstName&player2=SecondName and the page loads the two skins as soon as it opens.

Why does a skin I just changed still look old?

A name that was found is kept for six hours, so a skin changed within that time can still show the previous file here. A name that was not found is checked again after ten minutes.

Is this an official Mojang tool?

No. Astroworld is an independent fan project. Skin data comes from the public Mojang profile API. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang.
